I’m a designer with over 10 years experience in print, web design and most recently UI design. I have been very fortunate to be given the opportunity to work for amazing companies that allowed me to grow with my skills as a designer. Aside from that experience, I strive to implement design in all aspects of my life, from cooking to the design of my environment.

I am NOT an actor, but I think this is a cool way to “meet” me. Because of my name, I was contacted by Paramount Pictures to participate in a special promo shoot for the DVD release of “Mission: Impossible—Rogue Nation.” No Ethan’s were harmed in the filming of this video.

Responsible for marketing and communications strategy, design, implementation and review for driving sales and improving client satisfaction. Managed campaign websites, social media outlets and call lists. Produced, scripted, and filmed video materials for media and in-house use. Created new marketing collateral, Constant Contact e-blasts and other internal/external marketing and communications materials.

    Oversaw the creative direction of more than twenty plus ad campaigns for both regional and local retail and service providers including Prudential Real Estate, Volkswagen, Heineken and other major advertisers within The Ruxton Group. Responsible for designing, proofing, and placing the adverts created in and out-of-studio. Supervised and coordinated a staff of two junior and two senior designers. Worked closely with account managers in the production of full-color display print ads, ranging from eighth-page to full-page adverts. Migrated Philadelphia Weekly towards electronic pagination in Quark and Adobe InDesign.

    Advised the Executive Officer of Command, staff and 6 Regional Commanders on all public relations messaging for more than 40,000 United States Coast Guard/DHS personnel. Developed the framework, design, streaming content and then-Flash animation for recruiting website, gocoastguard.com under a Section 508 Compliance. Composed, designed, and photographed Coast Guard/DHS print collateral and HTML emails. Developed online marketing solutions to promote the new USCG recruiting brand identity, ‘The Shield of Freedom’ with the print and television campaign. Streamlined the USCG GSA printing budget by $50,000 annually through transition of paper materials to Web-based and social media products.

BIOGRAPHY

Ethan was that kid—the kid who was always getting into trouble sketching, coloring and making little machines out of anything that he could find. He kept scrap paper for projects and daydreamed—but he did not eat glue.
He grew up loving the show “Bewitched” knew that when he grew up he wanted to become Darrin Stevens. Not knowing exactly what it was that Darrin did, all he knew was that he saw a man who was paid to draw and tell people that they needed things based on his drawings. This was Ethan’s first exposure to the world of design and advertising. He never imagined that his sketching and creative tendencies would ever actually become a viable career. After high school, Ethan attended Drexel University faced the intensity of the curriculum—an intensity that gave him an edge in the saturated northeast design industry.
His career started in an era where print was becoming less popular and web just taking over, so the bedrock of his skill set comes from print, typography and publication design. He was brought in to work for firms such as Young & Rubicam and Campbell-Mithun on campaigns for Jaguar, Land Rover and DirecTV. Working through the ranks, Ethan quickly gained a reputation for being meticulous, thoughtful and creatively motivated.
When advertising tanked following the events of September 11, he was forced to take an unexpected turn to a military career that paralleled his civilian one. Ethan served in the United States Coast Guard as one of only seventy-seven national Public Affairs officers responsible for recruitment advertising and public relations. For Ethan, this was quite an adjustment—he thrived nonetheless, considering it to be a chance to broaden his overall experience.
Though unplanned at the time, his military service later afforded him the opportunity to return to college and update his skills by attending The University of California Los Angeles campus. It was there as a student in the Design Communication Arts Program that Ethan became more adept in responsive design, wireframing, social media and developing online content.
Ethan has been around and has seen a well-rounded landscape of different design styles, agencies and work environments nationally. He is a focused, considerate and strategic designer adept in creating solutions that follow the spirit of the creative brief while still managing to be visually stimulating. The Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch App and his other tools are the closest things that he has to siblings.
Ethan is an active AIGA member, contributes his free time to volunteerism and is available in the New York City metropolitan area.
